John MacAulay

(b. 1968) John MacAulay was born in Glasgow, 1968. He graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1990 and then went on to the Royal College of Art, graduating in textile design in 1993. The freedom of the courses allowed him to experiment with painting while still working as a textile designer. His paintings derive from observations of Scottish life and sometimes family memories - the works are captured moments in time rather than portraits of people. Although evidently humourous there is always a sympathetic element to the subject in his paintings. His work is in the Fleming-Wyfold Foundation collection as well as several private collections.
